COVID Tournament Protocols Modified
Continuing to review on a timely manner, the Tournament Committee has recently made a few modifications to the Tournament Protocols in place regarding COVID-19 in the last few days.

It is important to stress that Players should still abide by and be cognizant of the social distancing rules in place at all times while on site and participating in events.

The following were restrictions and safety protocols in place but effectively immediately have been modified.
  • Caddies/Spectators - Players are NOW Permitted to bring a caddie/spectator to a tournament.
  • Scoring/Scorecard Procedure - Players are now permitted to exchange in "regular" scoring procedures that will allow the exchange of scorecards for verification by the player/scorer and allow for signatures for both player/scorer on the card.

Section staff will still have hand sanitizing stations at the first tee and scoring areas and encourage all players to utilize these.

GOLF COURSE & CADDY USE - UPDATED INFO

Please be advised the following letter was released this week by the New York State Club Association, Inc.

We simply wanted to pass the following information that comes from the NYS Club Association, Inc. organization in regard to caddy use at golf courses.

We've started updating a new web page titled "College Info & Alumni" where our goal is multi-faceted We want to:

1. Create a go-to resource for our juniors and families regarding Collegiate Golf
2. Promote our NENY PGA Junior Members (Alumni) juniors who have advanced to compete in collegiate golf
3. Promote our own NENY PGA Section members who coach at a collegiate level

PGA of America Scholarship Program Updates

We've been informed that both winner and non-winner notifications have been sent out via email (to the student applicants) regarding decisions for the PGA Scholarship. If the student applicant did not receive a notification (please be sure to check in the email spam folder) contact the NENY PGA Section office for follow up.

PGA Professional Championship

Please be advised that the PGA of America and leadership are still monitoring the situation regarding the 2020 PGA Professional Championship. Communication with the field of players has taken place with players be asked to respond with their personal feedback regarding the ever-changing climate and geographic regions and states recently presenting with increased cases and other states implementing stricter travel restrictions. As more becomes known, the PGA Tournament Dept. staff will continue to communicate to players and hopefully have some direction to share next week.
