Programs In Youth Golf

Kids Play Golf

  • KidsPlay Golf is a fun, entry-level introduction to golf designed for girls and boys ages 2-11 with little or no previous experience.
  • Golf clubs and other equipment designed especially for kids are provided for all students. Our Starting New at Golf (SNAG) and Short Golf gear feature plastic color-coded handles to help teach proper grip, oversized club heads, tennis balls and targets.
  • Juniors ages 6-11 train skills with station based practice and ages 2-5 go through a story based golf curriculum called Birdie Basics that allows them to learn golf through fun games and play.
  • The goal is to ensure that kids experience success, which builds confidence and encourages them to continue.

Kids Play Plus

  • Northeastern New York PGA Kids Play Plus League is a weekly opportunity for junior golfers ages 7-17 to play on the course in a low stress 2 person scramble team format. Most matches will be held at the Town of Colonie Golf Course!
  • Our goals is to help juniors succeed at next-level programs like NENY PGA Junior Tour and Drive, Chip & Putt and play rounds of golf with their friends and families!
  • The PGA Jr. League format of team matches played with scramble formats will be incorporated so some weeks may include a head-to-head match against another PGA Jr. League teams.

Drive, Chip and Putt

  • Boys and girls of all abilities can try their hand at the fundamental skills of golf: driving, chipping and putting. Any kid can participate – it’s not just for juniors who play regularly. And the competition is completely free!
  • Scoring is based solely on performing the three skills, and competitors get to try each one three times. Kids compete in four age divisions: 7-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15
  • The top performers at the local level advance through sub-regional and regional qualifying rounds, where 80 finalists (40 boys and 40 girls) earn an invitation to the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club on the eve of the Masters Tournament.
