Doug Evans Junior Tour Memorial Scholarship

In an effort to recognize NENY PGA Junior Tour members and to assist them with their higher academic goals, the PGA Reach NENY has established two (2) scholarships of $2,000 each to high school graduating seniors in the memory of Doug Evans.

Applicants must be members of the NENY Junior Tour for at least two years and will be attending an Educational Institution (University, College, Community College, Technical Program or Certificate Program) in the fall of year applying for.

The PGA Reach NENY and the NENY PGA Junior Golf Committee team up to promote the Doug Evans NENY Junior Tour Memorial Scholarship. Doug Evans passed away in the fall of 2020 and served as the NENY PGA Section’s longtime Tournament Director & Assistant Executive Director. He was incredibly well respected among the NENY PGA Member Professionals, the local Capital Region Amateur golf community and from all NENY families and juniors having served the section and local golf body for just under two decades. He worked tirelessly on behalf of his fellow professionals and one of his passions was serving and conducting the Section’s Junior Golf Tour for our local families and junior competitors. He had an incredible way about him to share his knowledge, prowess for the rules of golf and always encouraging message to each junior.  In 2021, the NENY PGA Section also established a Special Award to recognize the impact one individual has on our PGA Section also established a Special Award to recognize the impact one individual has on our PGA Section titles the “Doug Evans Distinguished Service Award”

The NENY PGA Section along with Doug’s family, Hilman Evans and his sister, Cyndi Osborn & family join together in hopes to keep the memory of Doug alive with an endowed scholarship.

Eligibility:
Must be a current NENY Junior Tour member
– Must have graduated High School during the spring of current scholarship year
– Must have been a member of NENY Junior Tour for 2+ years (current year can be included)
– Must be enrolled/attend an Education Institution in the fall of scholarship year
– Must have an outstanding personal character, sportsmanship, and leadership qualities

Timeline:
April 1, 2024: Applications Open & Graduating Juniors will be notified via email
June 30, 2024: Applications Close
August 1, 2024:  Scholarship Applicant Selected & Notified (Please allow for 5-7 days for notifications)
