PGA of America - Governance Updates & PGA Annual Meeting Info

Bylaw Modification - Independent Director Term
At the January 25, 2019 PGA Board Meeting, several amendments to the PGA of America Constitution and Bylaws were adopted including an increase in the number of Independent Directors on the PGA’s Board of Directors from two to three and the establishment of a short term for the individual selected to serve the initial term of the new, third Independent Director position.

The analysis and selection of a candidate to fill the third Independent Director position has been completed and upon further reflection, the PGA Board of Directors determined that a longer initial term be provided. As such, the Board modified Section 4 of Article VII of the Bylaws during its meeting on August 23, 2019, to allow the term of the individual initially serving in the third Independent Director position to commence at the Board meeting immediately following the conclusion of the 2019 PGA Annual Meeting until the 2023 Annual Meeting. This approach establishes the initial term of the third Independent Director position as four (4) years rather than slightly more than one (1) year, but still accomplishes the ultimate goal of having one Independent Director in each class of Directors.

2019 Silver Dollar Fundraiser & Pro Am

Dear Fellow NENY PGA Members and Apprentices,

The NENY PGA Assistant’s Association will be hosting its annual Silver Dollar Pro-Am to raise money for our sections Associates that participate to provide assistance in paying for their PGA Education costs. The total cost of the educational program is between $8,000 - $10,000 dollars per Associate.

We need your help to minimize the out of pocket cost for our Associates. Let’s show an integral component of every golf operation how much they are appreciated. We would like to invite both Associates & PGA Members to participate in this year’s Silver Dollar Pro-Am on September 30 at Hiland Park Country Club. The event will include a five-person scramble consisting of 1 pro and 4 amateurs, followed by dinner with an awards presentation. The cost of the event is $500 per team. If you cannot attend the event but would like to help out, any raffle donations or donation of rounds to your facility to be used as silent auction prizes would be greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to inquire for any additional information to (518) 765-4103. We look forward to seeing you for a great day of fun. Thank You for your support of the apprentices and the NENY PGA Assistant’s Association.
