** COVID-19 - New York Pause Order Extended until May 15th
& Statement from the NENY PGA Section Leadership **

Per Governor Cuomo's update given yesterday, the "Pause Order" that was in effect until April 29th has now been moved back to May 15th.

Golf course operations still remain in the same status - defineded specifically as not *essential businesses* since the ESD's last update.

The NENY PGA Section leadership urges all golf course business operations to stop to be in compliance with these revisions. It is important to note, that municipalities are exempt from the ESD orders.

Please refer to Item #13 for the inclusion of Golf Courses as non-essential business listed under Recreation.

*Massachusetts State Pause Order is still in effect until May 4th.

Spring Meeting

Members on the Move

As we get into the Spring time and although there is currently no golf being played, we are pleased to welcome the newest Associate to the NENY PGA Section. Bob Triblely just officially registered into the PGA PGM Program and is our newest Associate! However, Bob is no stranger to the NENY PGA or the golf business and has been working as the Director of Golf at Saratoga Spa Golf Course. Bob will officially join the PGA staff at the facility and remain in the same roll of Director of Golf (B-4). Please send Bob a welcome message here: btribley@saratogaspagolf.com

We're saddened to report the news that Dick Osborne, PGA suffered a stroke earlier in the week and was sent to Albany Medical Center. Dick is a life time retired member of the section and previously owned Sacandaga Golf Course and although isn't in an ownership position any longer at the age of 83 Dick still worked and helped at the club and was looking fowrard to the start of the season prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be sure to keep Dick in your thoughts and as we learn more about Dick's status we will update.

Mohawk Valley Country Club recently changed hands for ownership and with that comes a facility name change to MV Golf & Events Center. Arc Herkimer purchased the club in an effort to bring more services to the individuals they support and to diversify their revenue streams for non-governmental funding. The project has been in the works for quite some time. The facility offers an 18-hole golf course, restaurant and event space and a fire destroyed the restaurant and clubhouse in April 2017. The building re-opened in July 2017 in a new building. Mark Lane, PGA will continue serving as the Head Professional as he has for the last 12 years. Mark can be reached via email at

NENY PGA Section will send out email invitations for our 6th Town Hall Video Conference directly to our members. You are encouraged to log in via the link provided so that we can track our members who attend the webinar. We will provide 1 MSR Credit for the Webinars but the only method to do this is to "know and track" if a member uses the Google Meet link provided. Calling in via telephone will not allow for MSR Credit.

REMINDERS:

*Google Hangouts Meet does require a Google/G-mail account. Simply set one up if you don't have one. The video conference can be done via a computer or other hand held device (phone, tablet, IPAD, etc.) but needs a camera. If you are using a hand held device, you are asked to download the "Hangouts Meet" App - as the video conferencing works far better in the app.

*PLEASE be sure to mute your microphone or speaker (if on a phone) as it will be a necessity with a large group to have ZERO background noise

*Please contact any staff member for assistance if you need it to get connected to with the Hangout Meets resource

PGA of America Member Dues - Update & Procedure Announcement

With much coordination across the board from all PGA Sections and PGA of America, our NENY PGA Section dues have been determined to be extended until October 31, 2020 to align with National dues. A few items of note below for our PGA Members and Associates for your own information:

  • There have been many collaborative efforts by the 41 Sections and PGA HQ to help get all Sections to the other side of this crisis, while being cognizant of the impact to our own members. PGA Dues similar to dues revenue at your own club are a top revenue line item for our NENY PGA Section and the other 40 sections, but everyone has made it a priority to delay and push back the dues deadline date to October 31st for all.
  • Two payment options have been outlined:
  1. Can pay full dues amount in advance at any time through October 31, 2020.
    (OR)
  2. Can pay dues in two installments: Pay Section amount only any time through October 31, 2020, without penalty or late fee. Pay National, Life, Liability and MAP any time through October 31, 2020, without penalty or late fee provided all dues components are paid by October 31, 2020
  • If you are a PGA Professional hurting financially because of COVID-19, please apply TODAY for the Golf Emergency Relief fund at relief.golf.

Golf Emergency Fund Technical Issue Update - Application Closing at 2pm

Issued From the PGA of America at 12pm:
Due to overwhelming response, registrations for Phase 1 of the Golf Emergency Relief Fund will be closing at 2pm ET
. As a reminder, applications are received on a first come-first served basis. Please note that as it relates to the first-come, first-serve nature of the grant approvals, the time of registration (not the time of application submission) is the moment in time deemed effective. Anyone who registered but was unable to complete the application process will have until Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 4pm ET to complete the application process. Yesterday, as a result of the high volume of people seeking to apply for a grant in a very concentrated window of time, E4E Relief experienced loading issues causing difficulty for applicants to complete their application, after registering on the site. Those who were deemed ineligible during the initial pre-screening questions will have another opportunity to review the information they provided to ensure the accuracy of information and re-submit their application. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
