2020 PGA of America Secretary Candidates Announcement

PGA Members Tom Henderson (Met PGA), Don Rea (Southwest PGA), David Schneider (Nebraska PGA) and Kelly Williams (Kentucky PGA) are the four declared candidates for the office of PGA of America Secretary. The election will be held on Oct. 30, 2020, at the 104th PGA Annual Meeting in Hartford, Connecticut.

NENY PGA Section leaders will be attending a PGA Super Regional Meeting in Atlanta in February to talk and hear more directly from the candidates.

HAVE YOU COMPLETED THE SURVEY YET?
As the NENY PGA Section staff, committees and leadership are deep into Committee planning we will be occassionally sending out a few surveys as data/stats and a more complete picture of information will assist in our membership program planning.

Below is a link that we're hopeful to gather a well rounded view of our PGA facilities "major" events/competitive playing opportunities. The survey should take less than 5 minutes and only includes 5 questions - some of which may not even apply to your specific facility.

Employment Notices
Battenkill CC has contacted the PGA Section and will be seeking a Head Professional. The former head professional, Mike Schreiner (non-PGA affiliated) will not be returning. The position will be posted via CareerLinks in the coming days.

NENY PGA Physical Education Golf In Schools Programming Update
The NENY PGA Section has secured the following schools in our Golf In Schools programming and will be heading in to introduce and instruct the game of golf to those students in 2020. Do you know or have a contact at a school that would be a great fit for our P.E. Golf In Schools Program? Contact Christian Torres at ctorres@pgahq.com

Orenda Elementary School (Shenendehowa): February 3-February 14, 2020
Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District (Elementary): April 27-May 8, 2020

NENY PGA Representation in PGA Tournament Series
Through 5 of the 6 PGA Tournament Series Events (the last being played this week), Scott Berliner, PGA Assistant Professional at Hiland Park GC competed and cashed in 3 of the 5 with his best finish of tied for 6th.

Also competing from the NENY PGA Section were professionals, Chris Sanger (Woodstock GC) and Mike Decker (Shaker Ridge CC) both who just missed cashing.

PGA Financial Assistance Fund - Scholarship Application Now Open!

The PGA Financial Assistance Fund was established in 1986 and provides college scholarships to children and grandchildren of PGA Members based on evidence of academic achievement during high school or college.

Important Dates:
December 10, 2019 - Application Opens
April 3, 2020 - Application Deadline
April 3, 2020 - Supporting Materials Deadline
May 2020 - Notification of Selection Results
August 2020 - Funds Disbursed
August 2020 - Deadline date for photo submission
October 2020 - PGA Financial Assistance Scholarship recipients will beo n PGA.org and in PGA Magazine

REMINDER - NENY PGA Section Office Holiday Hours

Please be reminded that the NENY PGA Section and the PGA of America Headquarters office will be closed for the holidays from Monday, December 23 and will re-open on Monday, January 6. Our section staff will all be reachable via email or cell if you have any matter that needs addressed during these dates.

PGA Junior League MSR Credits

PGA Junior League Captains, please be advised that the PGA Membership Dept. is in the process of posting the MSRs for your 2019 PGA Junior League season. These will likely be posted and show on your PGA.org profile in mid-January. Reminder that PGA Captains and Coaches (Class A members) will receive a max of 6 MSR Required Credtis per team per year (with a maximum of 12 per MSR Cycle year - ie, MSRs for up to 2 teams.)
