2020 PGA Professional Championship Has Been Cancelled
The official notification was sent out to the 2020 Championship field of qualified professionals was shared on Monday afternoon this week. The Championship was set to take place July 19-22 at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, TX. The decision was made after numerous consultations with health authorities in Austin and much deliberation.

Disappointing for all and especially our NENY PGA professionals:

*Scott Berliner, PGA Assistant Professional at Saratoga Spa Golf
* John Neet, PGA Teaching Professional at The Edison Club

PGA Reach NENY, the Section's new C-3 charity is thrilled to take on a role and be a part of this 2nd Annual event! We will be seeking any support from financial donations, to donated foursomes, merchandise for prizes or playing in the event!

This year we are so excited to announce that we have partnered with the newly established PGA Reach NENY charitable entity and all proceeds raised will be used for youth golf programming!

Tom loved junior golf – teaching youth all aspects of golf, and watching them learn, grow and develop a passion for the game. Having his name attached to this new NENY PGA venture is such an honor, and Tom would be so proud! We hope you can celebrate with us on August 7th. Let’s all gather for a day to golf, tell some stories, share some laughs and enjoy another Coors Light toast to Tom! Join us in “A Day for The Director” to honor a great man with great friends for a great cause!

NY State Regions Begin Entering Final Phase 4 - NY Forward Re-Opening Plan

Last week, New York State issued guidance applicable to Phase 4 industries in Governor Cuomo’s NY Forward reopening plan. Western New York, Mohawk Valley, North Country, Finger Lakes and Southern Tier all entered Phase 4 on Tuesday, June 30. The Capital Region entered Phase 4 mid-week, this week. Below is a brief version of the most recent Phase 4 OSHA Guidance on of this most recent Guidance.

Travel Restrictions Imposed by NY State Governor

On June 24, 2020, Governor Cuomo signed an Executive Order that requires a 14-day post-travel quarantine for anyone entering New York State from certain states experiencing high rates of COVID-19. Employers should be aware of these and the effect of employee-related travel so annexed please find the Hodgson & Russ Labor & Employment Group’s analysis of this Executive Order.

Effective as of July 1st: Any NENY PGA Professional who HAS NOT completed the ACH Direct Deposit will NOT receive prize purse payments.

Applications Open for NYSGA College Scholarships
The New York State Golf Association Foundation (501c3) is now accepting scholarship applicants for the 2020-21 academic year.

The Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to students pursuing an undergraduate or masters degree, and currently working in golf operations at an NYSGA member club (pro shop, bag room, caddie, or golf course maintenance). Applicants are selected based on their GPA and financial need.

Application Deadline is July 17

Looking Ahead to the PGA Merchandise Show - January 2021

At this time, we are focused on actively reviewing and strengthening our planning in connection with the following five areas: (1) show layout and logistics, (2) physical distancing, (3) health screening and medical response, (4) cleaning, sanitization and personal protective equipment, and (5) conference and special events. With these areas as our framework, we are committed to instituting the measures described below to align with and supplement the extensive guidelines and procedures of the Orange County Convention Center (see below for key actions that the Orange County Convention Center is taking in response to COVID-19).
