Membership Updates

Congratulations to Dan Gaucher, PGA Assistant Professional at Saratoga National GC and his wife, Meredith on the recent birth of their second child, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was born on May 2nd and everyone is doing well. Congratulations!

A hearty welcome to Daniel Kinn, PGA who moved to the NENY PGA Section from the New Jersey PGA in mid-March. Daniel is working with Acushnet/Titleist. Please be sure to give him a welcoming greeting. dkinn5959@gmail.com

We were saddened to report back in April the passing of NENY PGA Member, John Kennedy. John was working as the Head Professional at Kingsbury National Golf Club seasonally.

Mark Your calendars as the NENY PGA Section is planning a Member Town Hall for next Tuesday early morning.

Google MEET invitations will be sent and we hope you can hop on for 30-45 minutes to discuss and share what next steps operationally your facility has already instituted or is planning to institute with Phase 3 having begun in the Northern Tier & Mohawk Valley today and Capital Region's Phase 3 opening set for mid next week.

There has been no change from the NY State ESD Guidance listed but with indoor restaurant service coming in Phase 3 and small group gatherings of 10 (non related), the NENY PGA Section leadership felt a town hall sharing amongst members would be extremely helpful at this point in the season.

Massachusetts is in Phase 2 which brought updates such as 12 minute tee time intervals, pro shops being able to open, and driving range and practices areas being opened.

NENY Schedule/Event Updates -

1) ALS Pro Am Cancelled - Event cancelled due to COVID - Event was scheduled for August 24th at Schuyler Meadows - To view the messaging from ALS Representatives please click HERE

2) New York State Open - This event is owned by the MET PGA Section. The decision has been made to postpone the Qualifiers and Championship for now after joint discussions with Bethpage State Park, all NY PGA Sections and event sponsors with a later date to be identified. As soon as dates/sites are confirmed, those will be communicated out.

3) Senior Stroke Play Championship - New Date is Thursday, August 27th at Hiland GC
After some re-shuffling was required this is the new date/site for the Senior Stroke Play Championship. Please mark your calendars and note that this is a 36-hole championship for the regular division.

4) NENY PGA Junior Tour Series Major #2 Due to the fact that Capital Hills Golf Course has not yet re-opening and the status is unknown at this point, this event has been moved to McGregor Links on the same day.

Blue Print for Re-Opening Private Clubs

The National Club Association’s (NCA) Blueprint for Reopening Private Clubs provides private clubs with direction and guidance to safely reopen. This is a compilation of shared resources across numerous industries that NCA has collected and disseminated through our Coronavirus Resource Center, which is sponsored by the NCA Foundation.

The Blueprint provides a collection of the best resources in one document organized by club departments, facilities, programs and operations categories. The primary federal COVID-19 resources and guidance, as well as state-related links, appear at the end of the list.

Phase 2 Applications Are Closed
Golf Emergency Relief Fund

Due to the high volume of applications and funding available, the Phase 2 application process is closed to award as many applicants as possible. Applications will be actively monitored as more funding becomes available.
