NENY PGA Section Junior Golf Coordinator Welcomed Back

As the NENY PGA Section staff gears up to begin administering both our Professional events our own NENY PGA Junior Tour Series is also in the works and will start up in early to mid June as well. We're extremely pleased to welcome back Laura Rentz into the seasonal role of Junior Golf Coordinator for the 2020 summer season and she will begin work next week. Laura worked in the same position for the Section last year as well as helped out with Instruction in our Kids Play Golf programming.

Laura just finished her junior year at Stevenson University where she is pursuing her degree in nursing. As you may recall, she also competes on her collegiate women's golf team. This season her team was ranked 38th nationally for Division 3 Women's Golf; earned 7 wins in the fall and one 2nd place finish as a team and Laura had 5 top 10 finishes.

Although her focus and primary responsibilities will be with our Junior Program, she will also assist with Professional tournaments so be sure to welcome her back when you see her!.

Changes to CareerLinks Coming, so Fill Out Your Job Preferences Today!

The PGA Career Services team has collaborated with the Technology Department to update the systems used by both employers and job seekers. As part of that update, we are beginning the transition away from the CareerLinks system and will use the Job Board located on PGA.org for the posting of all management-level positions.

As part of a multi-step process, we are asking all PGA Members & Associates to provide their “Job Preferences” on
pga.org. By answering 5 simple questions relative to your job search preferences, you will begin to see positions that align with your preferences highlighted on your PGA.org home page.

We are asking all PGA Members and Associates to complete their profile by
clicking here, even if you are not an active job seeker. The Career Services team sees this change as a necessary evolution which creates a member-focused system by allowing all members to see every position posted by the Career Services team. During a short transition time, the Career Services team will continue to use the CareerLinks notification system to make you aware of positions posted on the PGA Job Board but for only a short while longer. If you have any questions or issues setting your Job Preferences, please contact your PGA Career Consultant.

ADM Certified Coaches Will Highlight the New Focus of PGA.com
PGA.com’s new mission is to focus on inspiring players with their golf experiences and to support them on their golf journey, whatever it may be. This will include direct engagement from PGA Professionals with content, tools, and services, supported by a number of PGA and partner digital resources. The first step in publishing your PGA Coaching profile is to complete the ADM certification program highlighted on PGA.coach. Click here to learn how you can earn your ADM certificate.

Career Services to Survey Was Sent to PGA Members to Gain Feedback
On, Tuesday, May 25th the Career Services team sent a survey to PGA Professionals on how to improve our services. The over 8,000 PGA Members and Associates who interacted with their Career Consultant during the PGA’s last fiscal year, were sent the short survey to gain feedback on their experience and opportunities for both Consultant and Department improvement. Please contact your Career Consultant if you have any questions.

PGA Junior Golf Programming Updates

Junior Golf is coming, and it is going to be the only sport in town! With protocols in place, we will be able to maintain social distancing and create a safe arena for all participants. We urge our members to continue to stay in communication with your junior players and parents!

Why should kids play golf?
1. Golf is safe
2. Golf is a low intensity sport with tons of health benefits and being outdoors!
3. Golf teaches inherent life values - discipline, responsibility, emotional control
4. Golf requires interaction and helps develop communication and social skills
and so much more.

Although many sports and events we're commonly use to have been put on hold or cancelled, please know that we will have some wonderful opportunities for this year's junior programs - so we highly encourage you to invite your friends. Introduce them to this great sport that can be played for a lifetime!
