Below please find a message from Kirk & Matz NENY PGA Sales Representative, Gar Fellman regarding his upcoming retirement announcement. Kirk & Matz has become a wonderful Platinum level sponsor with the NENY PGA Section and supportive of our section programming and NENY PGA Professionals of which Gar was a big part of that established relationship. Gar will be servicing any and all order through the remaining season so do not hesitate to reach out to him and we wish him a very happy upcoming retirement and thank him for his generous support!

Greetings!

I am sending this email to inform you that effective January 1, 2021, I will be retiring. After 55 years as a salesman on the road, enough is enough!!

Most importantly, I want to thank each of you for allowing me into your Pro Shop. You have allowed me to make a good living for my family and you have become my friends. I never called on a customer – I called on a friend.

I wish you & your family good health. Stay safe.

Sincerely,

Gar Fellman

2 NENY PGA Local Clubs Go Above & Beyond in Golf Marathons to Raise Proceeds

Brad Gardner, PGA Head Professional at The Edison Club made a goal of increasing the funds his golf marathon raised and was shooting for $50,000! This is the 3rd year Brad has done the marathon in the name of the Folds of Honor at The Edison Club and bested his first year of $20,000, second year of $30,000 to a staggering $60,000 in proceeds raised which will benefit the charity to help provide scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen and disabled service members. This year, PGA General Manager, Craig McLean also got in the action to help motivate and push Brad to a faster pace to play more holes so he averaged 9 holes every 20 minutes.

Also, a club activity the Saratoga Golf & Polo Club professionals were in action with their annual golf marathon! Ron Ireland, PGA General Manager; Kevin Hughes, PGA Head Professional and Brandon Risler, PGA Assistant Professional played 13 hours of golf for 144 holes.

The Tour Championship site has changed from the originally scheduled CC of Pittsfield and will now be hosted by Wyantenuck CC.
This is due to a major bunker renovation that unfortunately will not be completed by the event date. We are however, looking forward to bringing our NENY PGA professionals to visit CC of Pittsfield and see the end product in 2021 as a host site of a section event.

Tues, Oct. 6-Wed, Oct. 7 at Wyantenuck CC

*The top 20 NENY PGA Professionals from the Player of the Year list (after Match Play concludes) earn free entry into the Tour Championship. Other NENY PGA professionals (Class A) can register to compete in the final event for the $200.

State of Golf In the Future & The Pandemic

The big question in March and April was whether golf courses and retail would reopen and remain open. In May and June, we wondered how quickly and strongly the golf economy would bounce back from spring losses. Now, the big unknown seems to be the extent to which we might retain new golfers and sustain increased levels of play when COVID is finally in the rearview. That’s of course a longer-term question, but we can certainly speculate based on past and current knowledge.
