NENY PGA Section staff administered the first of three local qualifiers for the Drive, Chip, and Putt Skills Competition in the section this summer. Saratoga National Golf Club was our first host site this past Saturday, with over 100 kids participating.

As our staff continues to become acclimated with the new PGA Financial system Workday, we continue to come across PGA Members and new Suppliers/Vendors who need to complete accounts and ACH payment setups to receive their proper payments.

NENY PGA Junior Golf Association Members Advancing to PGA Junior Boys & Girls Championship

The final round of the Northeastern New York PGA Junior Boys & Girls Championship was hot and humid, with temperatures reaching the 90-degree mark at the Town of Colonie G.C. last weekend.

Congratulations to the NENY PGA Section team of professionals who took a close win of 28.5 points to 25.5 points for the 2021 Challenge Cup of the top PGA Professionals taking on the top Amateurs of the Capital Region. The annual event was hosted by Schuyler Meadows Club yesterday and includes a combination of a team format along with an individual head-to-head component of match play within the foursome.

NENY PGA Last Seasonal Hire Announced

The last of the seasonal staff has joined our team. We’re pleased to announce Grace Kochan will be working with us in our Junior Golf Coordinator position. Grace is a rising Sophomore at Stevenson University studying Nursing.

PGA Reach NENY Foundation Established & Giving Back Locally Through the Tom DeBerry, PGA Memorial Golf Fundraiser Amsterdam Mayor Mike Cinquanti gratefully accepted the donation of five sets of junior golf clubs from Heidi DeBerry this afternoon at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course. Mrs. DeBerry is the widow of Amsterdam native and longtime area Golf Pro Tom DeBerry, who passed away in 2018 from pancreatic cancer. The Clubs were purchased with proceeds from the Tom DeBerry Memorial Golf Tournament in partnership with the PGA REACH Northeastern New York Foundation as part of REACH’s mission to positively impact lives through golf.

NENY PGA HOPE Instruction Seminar

We were fortunate to have PGA Instructor Judy Alvarez teach our NENY PGA Professionals the proper way to teach golf to our veterans who attend NENY PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) programs. Thanks to Wolferts Roost CC for hosting us! We will have 3 HOPE chapters this year: Town of Colonie GC, New York Golf Park, and MV Golf & Events Center.

2021 PGA Dues Deadline Extended

The PGA Board of Directors has extended the dues deadline for the 2021 dues billing process from June 30th to August 31st, with no late fee or suspension. These revamped procedures that take into account the challenges presented by COVID-19 pandemic.
