Keep an on the 2021 PGA Professional Championship being contested April 25-28 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie. Representing the NENY PGA Section is:

The Championship was cancelled last year due to COVID. The Professional Championship will be aired by the Golf Channel at the following schedule:

Our own NENY PGA Junior Golf Tour Member, Brayden Dock finished 1st in the putting skill and 2nd place overall in the Boy’s 12-13 Age Division.

In regard to travel, Governor Cuomo announced earlier this month that domestic travelers will NO LONGER be required to quarantine after entering New York from another U.S. State or U.S. Territory starting April 1st.

New York State Empire State Development (ESD) issues updated guidance related to golf operations that all facility operators should check out! Massachusetts facility operators should continue to follow their state issued guidance as of the beginning of their phase 4 re-opening plan. Check them both out here.

Don’t forget to send your feedback to the USGA & R&A regarding their proposed changes to Amateur Rules and specifically the proposed change of cash prizes from credit to amateurs!

Highlighting the 2020 Special Awards winners is Mike Behan, PGA whose journey in the NENY PGA Section began almost 20 years ago. Mike recently achieved the quarter century mark as a PGA member. His earlier years were spent working as an Assistant at various clubs in the MET PGA Section such as The Creek Club, Casperkill Golf Club, Country Club of Fairfield and the Tuxedo Club.

The Education Committee has plenty of varied webinars planned for the Education Series this spring to choose from so be sure to stay up-to-date in your professional and find a topic that interests you. These programs will be held virtually and completely free of charge and will be 1 hour sessions with 1 MSR Required Education Credit to all attending PGA members.
